The everyday sunshine that we have been having has been interrupted recently with bouts of heavy rain. Since the folks are spending 60 odd days traveling i have added a weather map.

Click on the weather map to get a complete details of  weather in Vietnam.

The folks are on their way to Hanoi, Vietnam, so have used that as a base.

              NEW DETAILED ITENERARY  – ROUTE

The planned schedule may change due to weather/break downs/unplanned stops. etc

This is the origonal plan, which has been altered as we go along.

The basic route stays the same with some additonal stops but the Day number will be out of sequence as we do additional stops.

How we ride.

The simple fact is that Vietnam can be very dangerous on the roads and highways. Traffic behaviour is less than predictable so it is necessary to remain constantly vigilant. There are a few behaviours that can be anticipated such as entering a road without looking. It will be your responsibility to preserve yourself. Roads are anything from very good to very bad but be warned that maintence can be slow on some good roads so there are unexpected hazards. The warnings for hazards are usually anything that is handy and can become a hazard themselves ie branches or rocks to warn you of a pothole.

Major Walks coming up

Day 1
Friday, 3rd April

We leave Nha Trang for Dalat. (139kms) Population 130,000 Elevation 1,500metres
The road to Dalat is relatively new and the journey will be for some part mountainous and senic. The pace should be medium because of the mountains. Amongst the youngest cities in the nation, Dalat was founded by the French doctor, Alecxander Yersin, in 1893 . Today it is the main city of LamDong province. Some 300 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Dalat is known as both the City of Love and Le Petit Paris. The area enjoys a mild climate, like an eternal spring, with beautiful views, waterfalls, lakes, pine forests, flower gardens and French - built villas. Its economy is based primarily on tourism. Ethnic minorities include the Co Ho, the Ma and Lat.
